As if cycling across South Africa isn’t tough enough the frankly crazy lot at Blood, Sweat & Gears have raised over £250,000 for Help for Heroes in the process.

We wanted to say congratulations to all the team. It’s safe to say we’re pretty impressed.

A different kind of inspiration

Strong wine, lovely beer, a public transport system that seems to utilise the ‘honesty box’ payment method and finally some amazing street art.

Graffiti, for the most part, is absolutely terrible. Pick a name and daub it all over town like a badge of honour. Look. I can write my name. A walk down the Danube in central Vienna shows you what you could have had. Interesting, different and carrying a strong illustrative quality. The people who created these works are most definitely artists – no matter what your own personal view on illegal street painting is.

So my advice – if you find yourself with an odd half hour in the Austrian capital, take a walk down the river and see if you spot anything you like. I would be very surprised if you didn’t.

Footnote from the same trip. The East Side Gallery in Berlin (which is actually the remnants of the Berlin wall) is also pretty damn excellent.

Images of a goddess

In fact, she’s got quite a bad reputation. We’ve collated a few of the versions of her we like the most, for no other reason than we think everyone should have the full picture.

Appearing in the Thor comics. She’s not very nice in these really I’m afraid.

And we’ll end on this beautiful, if dark, depiction of our lovely lady. This featured on an album cover by the icelandic band Skálmöld but unfortunately we have no idea who the artist is. If you know give a shout so we can credit the artist.
